Cats are complex, amazing and lovable animals, often misunderstood. They can be very territorial, and they don't
tolerate changes well. A pet sitter can help your cats feel secure in their familiar surroundings of home.
Cats can feel uncomfortable with anything new until they have conducted a full investigation! I meet cats constantly,
and have learned steps toward a proper introduction:
Offer my hand for smell.
Let the cat sniff as long as he wants. It may take a while.
A nose touch is a cat's way of saying "hi".
Don't PUSH, let the cat determine the speed to a connection. For some cats this might not happen until a few days
into a sit!
Use my voice and let the cat become familiar with its sound.
Schedule a first introductory visit (normally free if within a reasonable distance). It's a good way for your cats
and the sitter to get acquainted, and to see if Safe T Pet Sitters would be a good match!
